Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Food AWARE CIC has partnered with Dearne Valley businesses and community organizations to support relief efforts in Ukraine with over 50 pallets of sustainable food and personal hygiene items worth over £30,000.

A spokesperson said: ‘While the focus is on UK-based community support, particularly in light of the current ‘cost of living crisis’, we would be wrong to turn a blind eye to the horrible events that occur in

“Over the past few months we have worked very hard in partnership with a handful of key charities in the UK, Poland, Ukraine and the US.

“Together we have successfully forged ties with the Polish and Ukrainian governments, securing green lanes across borders to reach those who need it most.

“In May 2022, a heavy goods vehicle with 26 pallets of food, around 150,000 instant meals, left the UK bound for the Ukrainian border.

“On arrival, these pallets were broken down and distributed on smaller vehicles before being taken under Ukrainian army escort to the heart of Kyiv for those who were most

desperate need for subsistence.

“In the Dearne Valley in South Yorkshire, we’ve teamed up with Manvers-based Gala Tent UK, who have contributed £2,000 to the Ukrainian effort.”

Jason Mace, Managing Director of Gala Tent UK, said: “It is a great pleasure to be able to offer our support to such a great cause, as we are doing our part to help these families in need in Ukraine.

“We were thrilled when Sean and his team at Food AWARE approached us for our support of the collaboration and made us part of a much larger national and international partnership to deliver essential food and hygiene items. where they are most needed: Ukraine inside and on the border.
