NEW LENOX, IL – Santa Claus arrives in the New Lenox subdivisions starting at 10 a.m. Saturday and again starting at 10 a.m. on December 11, and he brings the New Lenox Fire Protection District as a special escort.
This will be the fifth year that the New Lenox FPD and its union, New Lenox Professional Firefighters Local 5097, have held the Santa Claus Parade in town, according to New Lenox FPD Public Information Officer Marisa Schrieber.
âOur union is spearheading this. They volunteer their time to do this for a few Saturdays each year,â said Schrieber.
Santa will walk the parade route with a new Lenox FPD fire truck in tow, Schrieber said, so kids and families have a chance to welcome the Jolly Old Elf as he makes his way through through neighborhoods.
âThis is something that we really love being able to offer our residents as a thank you for all year long,â said Schrieber.
The parade route on Saturday begins at 10 a.m. in the Bristol Park housing estate. Then head to Crystal Cove Subdivision around 10:30 am, Windemere Subdivision around 11am and Whisper Creek Subdivision around 11:30 am.
On December 11, Santa starts at Walker Country Estates at 10 a.m., followed by Wildwood Estates around 10:30 a.m., Aerohaven around 11 a.m. and ends at Palmer Ranch around 11:30 a.m.
Those who wish to spot Santa Claus don’t need to live in housing estates to do so, Schrieber said.
âWe invite anyone who wants to come and hang out along the parade line to do so,â said Schrieber.
